Poker UPDATE

A customer has informed me that a poker player purposely presses the bell so he can look at my bum when I bend down to collect glasses, this just makes me feel worse about feeling like their little bitch

1. Collect materials for idea development:
I have wrote down materials of which I need to bring my ideas to life, I have found links online of what I need and placed them on my blog. Materials will be brought over the weekend and when money isn't a problem.
2.create mood board of ideas:
I have wrote down my ideas so far but yet to make it into a mood board. I want to create mood boards so when it comes to the exhibition my development can be shown with these also if I have my ideas in front of me I can constantly be reminded of what I'm doing
3: interview friends family and public:
I have added a few more questions to ask people and will be asking people to answer my interviews over the weekend

STATEMENT

SECTION ONE – Your Final Major Project (guide 150 words)
What is the title of your Project? What will you work towards producing and what is your proposed end point? Explain how this relates to your work and ideas from the Pathway Stage and how it extends your knowledge, understanding and creative ability.

The title of my project is “Expectations”. My work will look at how stereotypical gender roles have affected society and relationships. I will work towards producing a piece of work that expresses my feelings from all the information and research I have found. In the pathway stage I looked into the 1950’s and how women became more sexualised, which got me thinking about how life was for women. With this and other previous work I've looked into, such as feminist artists I can develop the theme for my FMP.

SECTION TWO – Influences, Research, Sources and Ideas (guide 150 words)
What are the influences, starting points and contextual references and why are they relevant to your ideas? Indicate the subject areas you intend to research and the likely sources of information including any museums, specific locations, performances, etc you plan to visit. However you should not make extensive lists in this section. Instead you should compile an accurate bibliography correctly acknowledging all references including texts, periodicals, websites and video/DVD’s etc. Enter your bibliography in the APPENDIX .

To start of my FMP I will look into the history of gender roles and what different cultures and religions believe in. I will be interviewing a range of people of different genders, ethnicity's and sexuality's and asking them how they feel about gender roles. Influences such as Sarah Maple, Sarah Lucas, Allen Jones and the public will play a part in my work. My final piece will be in 3D form, whether it will be a sculpture or installation is not finalized yet. I plan on making visits to galleries and museums such as Harley gallery, Tate museums and any relevant exhibitions.

SECTION THREE – Techniques, Processes and Timescale (guide 150 words)
Refer to any techniques and processes you intend to use. Describe the range of media and materials relevant to your project and how you may use them to explore and develop your ideas. Include aspects of studio practice, workshop procedures or the use of particular equipment and software etc. Provide an indicative timescale for your project and indicate the manner in which you intend to divide your time in order to investigate, develop, produce and evaluate your project appropriately. This should be a meaningful plan to you and should be personalized to your project. You may wish to write your plan as a daily or weekly schedule in which case enter your timescale in the APPENDIX .

I intend to do a lot of research before starting to think about what my final project will look like. Materials I am thinking of using is found materials such as old toys, recycled materials etc. I have previously used found and recycled materials which I found enjoyable. I like using these materials as I like the fact of being able to use something old to create something new. Also I will look into my influences work and examine the materials they use and why they use them, this may give me inspiration to use try out new materials and techniques. I have to be strict with myself and make sure I spend enough time researching so I have a strong piece of work.

SECTION FOUR –  Method of Evaluation (guide 50 words)

How will you critically review and analyse your work and determine if it is successful? How will you identify directions for ongoing development? Do you have a method to record the critical response to your ideas? How do you propose to assess the success of your Final Major Project and what will be your methods of evaluation? Unit 9 requires you to produce a supporting statement at the end of your project. This section can inform your analysis.

I will be asking fellow students to criticize and give their opinions during the process. Throughout this project I want to make sure I'm recording my thoughts about my ideas, either by blogger, video or voice recording. This technique will clear my head from my thoughts and release any negative energy I have.

NOT YOUR LITTLE BITCH

As I was mopping the floor at work I thought of something relavant to my fmp. On Wednesdays its poker night were I work and if one of the players rings a bell it's our job to walk back and forth to serve them. It makes me feel like their little bitch. It makes me feel so little and like a sexual object. I don't know if they think that way, but I certainly do.

Questions to ask (Young Adults)

What was it like becoming a man/woman for you? Did you or do you feel pressure to play the stereotypical gender roles?

How do you feel about stereotypical gender roles still being played?

Do you think gender roles have an impact on society and in what aspect?

PLEASURE TO SIN

Sex and the church Notes

Jewish attitude to sex- High value of sex along as it led to the birth of children
Concern for the physical survival
Reproduction was a sacred duty
Every man and woman had a duty to get married including priests and rabbis
Jews thought sex was to be enjoyed to create a good family life
Male culture
Legally male husband’s possessed their wife’s, the woman’s job was to serve them and their place was in the home
Men got the idea women were nothing but trouble from the bible when eve ate the poisoned apple
Genesis 3:16 “I will make your pains in childbearing very severe;
with painful labor you will give birth to children.
Your desire will be for your husband,
and he will rule over you.

http://biblehub.com/genesis/3-16.htm
Be fruitful and multiply
Jews practiced polygamy
Homosexuality was condemned, though discussing lesbians was fine. It was only men who 'mattered'. In the Old Testament it says, "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind: it is abomination".
Abominations: Trimming your beard, getting a tattoo and mixing fabric with clothing

Romans deeply admired the Greeks and adopted many of their customs including their attitudes towards sex
One strand the Greek sexual tradition affirmed sexuality, they celebrated sexual pleasure and the world of the senses
The Greeks celebrated physical beauty, stressing the importance of lovely bodies, especially males
Also they celebrated the penis, it held the power of reproduction and it was a symbol of good luck
Penises warded of the evil eye
Greek society was also dominated by men, they kept their women indoors, wives had no more rights than slaves, and their sole sexual purpose was to bare children, preferably boys
Not all women were wives, "men had other needs too"
Around 340bc the Athenian states man said we have courtesans for your pleasure, prostitutes to service our daily needs and wives to bare us our legitimate children and to look after our housekeeping. (All women were there to serve men one way or another).
The Greeks encouraged relationships between a young man and an older role model, it was an important part of becoming a citizen. The older man was expected to teach the younger man how to play their part in society.
Rules: The older man must be active and the younger man was to be passive
The younger man had to be of a certain age, if he was any younger it would be a wrong form and any older they would suspiciously look like full time homosexuals.

Questions to answer !!???!!!

What were the gender roles of women from the 1990's onwards?

What were the gender roles of men from the 1990's onwards?

How did this affect relationships?

When was it it was acceptable for women to work? (Look into different cultures)

When was equality and diversity introduced?

TARGETS *PARADE*

1. I want to expand on my costume design ideas by using different materials to cut & paste such as I could use newspapers, magazines, scraps of material, etc.
2. I am going to use digital technology to develop my costume designs by editing photographs of my already made cut outs. This way I can easily change the colour of the costume without spending time cutting out all different bits of paper and I can screenshot the development of ideas.
3. To make sure I think about what materials I would be using if I was to be actually creating the product
4. Look into Futurism

I came across these masks which I thought were really interesting. There's something I find scary about these masks, I can't point my finger on what it is about these but they are oddly scary.

CUT AND PASTE

Whilst working on the cut and paste task I began thinking about the expectations of woman and how they had to do all the household chores and stay at home whilst men would work and have more of a social life. Men would look down at women. My nan was in an abusive relationship with my mums biological dad and it hits home on how men was and still can be.

I find it difficult trying to be automatic I kind of prepare what I am doing, luckily I don't plan out every step. What I do try to do is think about is the arrangement of the images in what they mean also if I start with black and white photos I feel the need to continue with them and don't introduce other coloured images. So far I like what I have done but I want to add more without thinking about what it will look like too much .

UPDATE: I had a look on the computer how my blog looked and I saw the photograph of my work in big and I actually really like how it looks. I kind of like how minimal I made it but I believe I should add a few other images on but finding the correct pictures to use is important to me.

POP ART THOUGHTS

Whilst watching a short video about British pop art I felt really excited. I feel as if I should have been alive when Pop art was born. It felt so out of the blue Allen Jones come out of nowhere with his sculptures. I think his work is great with how many questions can and have been raised, whether they are about women being slaves or maybe they are about sexual fantasy's or fetishes, there's so many possibilities and they cause
